Mission & Philosophy

Summit View West School is dedicated to educating young people with learning differences who possess average to superior intellectual capabilities. Recognizing the unique strengths, aptitudes, and natural gifts of each student, the program fosters academic growth, creativity, and a sense of mastery and accomplishment. A commitment to maximizing each student’s potential and performance forms the foundation of the school’s educational program.

Leadership/Student Council

Comprising students from grades 7-12 across all programs, this council meets twice a day, demonstrating a commitment to effective leadership and collaboration. Beyond its administrative functions, the council plays a pivotal role in organizing a wide array of school activities, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive campus culture. Additionally, they take charge of organizing lively dances and supporting various other school functions, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among students while honing valuable leadership skills.

Afterschool Sports

At Summit View West, we recognize that participation in interscholastic athletics enriches the academic experience and fosters personal growth. A sense of teamwork, dedication and commitment, self-confidence, sportsmanship and character building, and leadership are all built into our athletic program. Our coaches not only interact and get to know our students athletically, but in the classroom as well, giving them a clearer understanding of the needs of our students.

Parent Partnership

Parents actively engage in monthly meetings, collaborating with the administration to fundraise for the needs of both students and staff. Events such as Bingo Night and the Gala serve as key fundraising endeavors. Additionally, they contribute to the success of school activities like Pi Day, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and winter holidays. New parent evenings and get-togethers foster a sense of community and support among families.
